Lumen, our new part bred gypsy, recently brought back into work. She was out and about representing the Stud at the Autumn Dressage Series. Two more rounds to go and shes already off to a good start with a 1st and a 3rd.
James is also out doing work again after his big win at HOY.
But he is never to proud to be just a hack for the kids! Felix shown here with Laura giving him a pony ride.
What a great day we had at Horse Of The Year 2019 today with James taking out the title of Ridden Purebred Gypsy Cob.
And what a great lineup of cobs there were today. So lovely to see so many in the ring.
Thank you Laura Sykes for riding James so beautifully. As usual you did a brilliant job on him. You both were a joy to watch.
Thank you to Sue Reynolds for your guidance and fine tuning over the last month. It really paid off.
Big thank you to Julie Coker and Jaimee Taylor-Jackson for helping prep him this morning. He looked beautiful.
Thanks of course to Darren for taking James and Laura to HOY which allowed me to go in early to watch some Jamesy babies and Sweetie compete in the inhand section.
A huge thank you to all the Jamesy supporters that came along to watch and encourage him. It meant a lot . xox
December has been a busy month for us with all 4 mares hacving there foals this month...with no drama's!
We have had 3 filly's and one colt...in fact all outside mares foals have been filly's too...so the colt we had, we called Diesel Jr.
Nice stress free season this year!
It was with great sadness that I found Diesel dead in the drain this morning. We had heard boy racers last night doing burnouts down on the front of the farm. When we arrived to find Diesel, we also found slug pellets on the kerb close to him and wonder if they may have shot him in the eye. We have had alot of support as he was well know and liked locally. New paper article is below.
Police are investigating. RIP fanger...
James was used for the cover of the Autumn addition of the Living Hawkes Bay magazine to help promote Parkhill Stables Gypsys and Meadowood Boutique Accommodation And Glamping, with horse of the year coming up next week.
James was happily eating most of the apples set out for the shoot and looked like he would have been quiet comfy in the tents!

Due to complications in birth, Buffy, an outside Clydesdale mare loses her foal after 3 day fight to save her. Both foal and mare were sent to Massey in an effort to save them, and although Buffy pulled through, the foal died after 3 days. A very sad situation. After a full recovery, we look forward to seeing Buffy again next year.
Outside mare Bridie has a filly foal born 2 weeks early. Lovely markings, she is named Miss Money Penny.
With the last mare to foal on the property for the season, Breeze, an outside Andalusian mare owned by friend Charlotte, has had a filly foal around 11pm this evening. With Charlotte getting a blow by blow commentary while on a flight to the UK, Breeze overdue by two weeks had a quick birth to a filly foal. Both doing well. She is named Parkhill Mistral aka Aura
Its been the crazy xmas season, and Angel has decided to add to it with her colt foal, also born at lunchtime. She was getting extremely clingy and was wondering what was going on, but she calmy had her boy this afternoon out side the stables. It was a good birth, which Shani ended up filming and posting live. His new owners have call him Orion after the star constillation.
Due on the 19th but coming early, Henna has a filly with solid blaze & white stocking. A lovely looking foal.
With much waiting and nevous times his season, Becky final gave us a wee colt foal today... and decided it was a good place to have it in the middle of the day in the carpark at home. With two outside mares and James looking on! We decided to call him Parker. He is a very cute, adventurous lil man.
We are sad to report that Lilly May has lost her colt foal today. Born almost 2 weeks early, it looked to be a very big foal and lovely marked pinto boy. We also tried her with an orphan clydesdale foal from the Taranaki, but she didnt bond with it, so was returned. She has gone off to re-coop at Chelse's place, and getting back into alittle work. She is now doing well.
Previous Parkhill Stables gypsy mare Lucy, has had a filly foal this morning. A beautifully marked pinto, with both mother and foal doing well. They have called her Peaches.
